Social Bookmarking + Collaboration = A Practical Exercise

Originally, when looking at the readings we had this week, I was curious as to why "online collaboration" and "social bookmarking" were together in the same unit.  Especially, since the unit was called "Internal Collaboration".  Well, time makes fools of us all...  Little did I know the collaborative qualities that social bookmarking through a site like de.li.cious!  I was actually shocked to see how many people out there in Delicious-land had similar tags compared to mine and how many people had previous tagged the resources I had tagged myself.  Once I got the hang of browsing through Delicious, I found it more and more easy to learn more about my topic.  I also saw how much time could be wasted spent on learning more and more through the previous browsing of someone else.  It really does foster the sense of online collaboration without it feeling like you're all working on the same "group project", as I had previous thought of "collaboration".  I liked this exercise and I think I might even give Delicious a little more of my online time during the day.  Who knows what else I can find out there!
